INTRODUCTION
The International Circle of Friends of the Giant Puppets (C.I.A.G.) is an international
association dedicated to the diffusion and investigation of beings who have been with us for
centuries: the giant puppets, bigheaded and other parade figures.
They have received Kings
and they have accompanied them in their funeral monuments They have presided over parades
and they have surrendered homage to Christ in Processions.
They have attended the inauguration of cathedrals and Universal Exhibitions
and have seen convents burn. As they pass, they have cheered the faces of children
and they have scared them. They have allowed us to touch them
and have run off those who dared to approach. They have been fuel for fires or food of rats
and scrupulously have been restored. They have been jealously protected
and unjustly forgotten...... No other element of our popular culture has lived so many chapters of history
and suffered so much for its survival.
No other element of our universal culture has been so little studied or so
little preserved.
A people have several elements that identify them: their shield, their flag,
their monuments.....
And their giant puppets and bigheadeds Perhaps the moment has arrived when they will occupy their corresponding place
