Evolution of the giantsBeen born these figures at the same time in different places of the world, connected to each
other, it was not logical that if evolved they also did it of diverse forms, although they agree,
accidentally, sometimes.
And the first remarkable evolution is the appearance of support inferior, an element that
allows to maintain the giant in all their height, even when is not the carrier in its interior,
which facilitates the relief and the rest.
This element helped to modify the concept of the giants, giving them a more majestic air and
allowing to include handles in its interior to facilitate its mobility and
displacement.
Indications that exist yet this element, key in the giant puppets world, was not gotten up
before century XII. But in spite of the evident advantages that support inferior, this discovery
has not been carried out in many of the giant puppets zones of the world, thus is rare its presence
outside Europe.
The evolutionary process continued with the incorporation of an internal structure, realised
initially with hoops of overwhelm or other materials, that allowed "to give body" to the giant and
that this one became proportional in width with respect to its height.
Later the structures of clothes and skins that covered the old figures were being replaced by
more rigid forms, first of wood (especially the hands and the heads) and later in paper “mache”.
And we already have the giants we now know as them in almost all Europe, but very different
from which exists in the majority of places of the rest of the world. |
